In conjunction with Sioux City History Week come celebrate with us and learn about Sioux Cities close and strategically important ties with the nation’s railroads. At one point in time Sioux City had four of these large locomotive servicing terminals operating touching the lives of practically everyone that lived here. Today only the Milwaukee Historic Shops remain to teach and interrupt how vitally important a role Sioux City played in the western expansion of the United States. A lot of new construction has been done over the winter and the volunteers are eager to show off some new surprises. Normal daily admission prices apply for this event. |

Come help us celebrate GN1355’s 102nd birthday. Get up close and personal with a true piece of American history. Learn why this locomotive was deemed so historically significant that it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also listed as a Save Americas Treasure official project by the White House, National Parks Service and National Trust for Historic Preservation. Weather permitting Old Ironhorse will be pulled out of the roundhouse and placed on the turntable. It’s a beautiful locomotive sitting outside in the sunlight like it was meant to be so you don’t want to let this rare photo opportunity pass you by. Normal daily admission prices apply for this event. |
